Many people don't realize that hummingbirds don't use conventional birdhouses. Instead, they often build their nests on a small tree branch (often forked branches about a foot from tree trunks), high up and sheltered by a canopy of leaves to safeguard their offspring. Although one might see enclosed hummingbird houses for sale, these birds do not use them.

The Uchinanchu (Okinawan) Hummingbird Nester offers a design that mimics natural nesting conditions as closely as possible. By choosing suitable branches or dowels, you can create an ideal nesting area with a roof to shield the young from the elements. Its vibrant red color is designed to be especially attractive to these "flying jewels". Ruby-throated hummingbirds have adapted to urbanization, so our red nester is sure to attract these frequent visitors. If you live in area with different species, our cherry brown stained nester might be more suitable for the hummers who prefer a bit more camouflaged home.

At Ganekos Garden, we recognize the significance of fostering a hospitable environment for hummingbirds. Our hummingbird house, inspired by Okinawan design, marries aesthetics with practicality, providing a snug haven for these diminutive birds to relax and raise their young. Enhance your garden's appeal with this distinctive hummingbird nester.

Every piece of cedar wood is distinct, ensuring that each product is visually unique and handcrafted to order. Cedar is ideal for outdoor use due to its weather resistance, yet it will naturally grey over time unless treated with a sealant. For those who prefer to maintain the original hue, applying a wood sealant to non-stained items is recommended. Cedar is a softwood characterized by its unique grains, knots, and markings. We embrace these natural features, adding to the wood's charm, while avoiding any knots or marks that significantly detract from its appearance. The way cedar grains absorb stain also varies, which is part of the charm we find in our products. We trust you will also cherish these natural qualities and enjoy the beauty they bring to your garden.
